SCHOOL TRIPS

WHY WE DO IT!

Our goal is to help people, big and small, have fun while they LEARN. We use hands-on experiences in the outdoors to reconnect people with each other and our environment.

CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE

Students can enjoy all the activities in the Village. Bring food and roasting sticks to enjoy around campfires. Upon request, students can have a 15 minute tour of the tree fields. Students explore the needs and similar characteristics of Christmas trees and children. We will also share about life on a Christmas tree farm through the year. Additional topics can include environmental stewardship, habitats, and soils.

CAROLINIAN FOREST EXPLORER’S

Students journey through a Carolinian forest and explore the different plants, habitats and communities that live and die there. Students take time to examine the bark and leaves of deciduous trees and dig in the soil and decomposing understory. Teachers can expect a 20-minute talk plus a 30-45 minute scavenger hunt in the forest.

YEAR END PARTY

Students can celebrate the end of the year with a fun-filled day playing on the numerous attractions in the Village. In addition, enjoy campfires for your students to roast wieners for lunch and/or marshmallows for a special treat.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST

Students learn about survival, food chains and food webs by becoming herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores. Students play in the forest/ tree field looking for food and water stations while enacting their animal roles. Watch out for disease, fire and man. Teachers can expect a 20-minute instructional time with a 45-60 minute play time. The rest of the time can be spent playing on the Village activities.

TEAM BUILDING CHALLENGE

Students work together to solve various mental and physical challenges. Communication, problem solving, and team building skills are employed on outdoor equipment. Teachers can expect each activity to take 15 – 20 minutes with 6 – 8 students at each activity. Groups can choose to complete all activity stations or a few.
